The death of Wayne Shorter hit me very hard. Wayne was a renowned American jazz saxophonist and composer. He made many innovative contributions to jazz music, particularly in the realms of hard bop, modal jazz, and jazz fusion. He was a member of Miles Davis' Second Great Quintet and, ten years later, "Weather Report" (with Joe Zawinul and bassist extra-ordinaire Jaco Pastorius).
If you want find out how amazing this man was, try Miles' "Nefertiti" album, with Miles on trumpet, Ron Carter on bass, Herbie Hancock on piano, Tony Williams (drums), and Wayne (saxophone).
Wayne is playing the Great Gig in the Sky now 😐
