Our home keeper of 12 years passed away today.
She was quite sick for a long time so I'm glad she's no longer suffering but I am heartbroken over losing a one of the best friends I have ever had and one of the most amazing people I have known. She has a 14 year old son who will now be under the guardianship of our family since his father passed years ago. He goes to boarding school but he will be living with us when he's home. That's the promise I made to her. We don't trust his relatives to take care of him. I love him very much.
She was such a kind and giving person who went out of her way to help others. She was so creative and funny. She was an amazing storyteller, really engaging. She was smart and shrewed. She was a really good problem solver, she could think of alternative solutions to a problem. She was an interior designer at heart. Every 4 or 5 months she'd just rearrange our furniture in a way that made everything look new. I loved that about her. My cat Toby absolutely adored her and he's generally not a fan of a lot of people so that says a lot about her you know? She had a green thumb. She'd bring us delicious spinich and tomatoes. She was a hard worker who went above and beyond, she refused to settle for mediocrity. Above all she was generous. She will be missed by an entire community of people whose lives she touched.
I love her very much. Saying "She was" instead of "She is" is heartbreaking.
May she rest in peace.
