Anyone else rather not spend money for a casket at their funeral?

I'd rather be buried under a tree or with a tree sapling...

What are you going to do with yourself?

there's a book by Mary Roach called 'Stiff' that goes into (as the subtitle calls it) 'the curious lives of cadavers'. there are some interesting alternative options being developed (or were; the book is many years old) to burial and cremation (cremation is often considered very unsound environmentally).

The two mehtods I remember best consisted of a bath of boiling caustic mix that left you as nothing more than a pile of bleached bones or a liquid nitrogen/ultrasonic reduction that turns a body into a smallish pile of compost that is then put into a container with a tree to be returned to people.

anyway, a good book to read, if you're interested in the range of things that can/have/may happen.

THIS IS HOW WE GET HAUNTED FORESTS PEOPLE
@Starcrossed worse, I think it's usually a fruit tree (it might be too chemically 'hot' for most other trees). so evil grandparents can take over the grandkids through the fruit. I'm onto the plot!

@stound sort of morbid, but sounds interesting
