I had the honor of spreading my dad's ashes

On his favorite spot to visit on his favorite lake. It was both an honor, and simultaneously weird and humbling.

Update.
I didn't cry at the service. Guess I was putting on a brave face. But while spreading his ashes in the lake, barefoot with my pant legs rolled up, smelling his ashes as I spread them in the waves. The tears rolled.

In our custom there is cremation and then some of the ashes and burnt remains are collected - to be consigned to some river or waterbody.
Had to do that twice, for my parents.
I was recalling the love I received, the times when I was too busy to go spend some time with them, and lost the chance to do that !
My empathies with you 💜💜
