I Am Angry

I got an interview for a movie theatre as a floor person- tickets, concession, and possibly cleaning. I live with my parents so I told them about the interview since someone needs to drive me. First my mom was happy with it but then my dad opened up his big mouth and doesn't want me there because he doesn't want me cleaning. I told him that during the interview I was going to tell them I refuse to do that part since I'm a college graduate. He said he wants me to forget the interview all together. I am not going to do that! That's the whole point of an interview- to see how a job will be before deciding. Where I live, there are no good jobs but I need to make money and working at the movie theater seems like something I wouldn't mind doing. I'm just tired of my mom not having a mind of her own and both of them not taking me seriously enough to make my own decisions. I'm tired of that. I can just picture of future fight happening sometime this week about it. Every fight in this house is a screaming match. How I wished I had a sitcom family.

all jobs have a purpose and have worth

who knows, you might start as a ticket taker and end up as a manager of one of the mutliplexes or even go on to upper management

your work ethic will be noticed and you could even use your managers as a reference if you decide to go somewhere else

your 22-25 years old ...so what do your parents think your going to do for money ?
And no lic. or car yet ? yes its a loop you need a job to get a car and a car to get a job . But you have to start some where .

Most of the people I know had jobs in junior high .

Well your parent only what the best for you. But on the other hand nothing stops you from going to the interview yourself are there city buses? Also in to day world a job is a job Yea it's great you are a college graduate but you need work and nothing stop you from taking that job until you find something better.

Yes so go for that interview and see what happens and if you have to clean well then so be it after all they have written in the ad that cleaning has to be done so if you apply for the job well you know you may have to clean.

You are doing right, not the best job in the world. But trust me plenty of us aren't happy with our daily jobs. Like you said it's good for you to gain the experience and open doors for you.
Tell your dad and assure him it's not the job you are going to stay for ever but you need experience.

You have to start somewhere. I have a Master's degree and have yet to find a job that doesn't have some cleaning involved.

Exactly. I live in the suburbs because I cannot afford the city. But in order to make money, like everyone says, I have to start somewhere and make money to save up in any way I can.
