• 5 seconds is a solid average. After that if a person has sharp tone, dismissive word, or disrespectful gesture remind them of how you are human too.
• Longer turns (10+ seconds) storytelling, lecturing, or trying to dominate, know when to end the conversation, have distance.

If someone keeps talking down, interrupting, or dominating, emotions escalate quickly.
