@pawsly Lol. Yelling isn’t something I do unless I need to be heard, or I’m very unhappy with you. Thankfully neither of those are the case here. If you do need something else though, I’m happy to help. My job is helping people, and I like it. Despite the toxic culture with management.
Y'all need to bring notebooks/pens to work. And log the time/date of every managerial infraction observed collectively. Then sandbag HR with your logs at the end of a month to three months. If HR has released other workers on similar grounds, they will have no choice but to reprimand management.
I'd suggest getting your managers fired, before they fire you.
@SnailTeeth That’s a good suggestion. Being organized would help us achieve a common goal, but organizing people, even if we all agree, is difficult to do. We generally avoid management wherever possible because of the bad interactions we have with them. I feel as though it’s just often enough to lead to a generally miserable work culture, but not often enough to prompt such radical mobilization. It takes a lot to get people to do the harder thing in life especially after they’ve been beaten down enough.
Nothing worse than an undercurrent of mistrust and constant fear of sanction or job loss because you have a boss stubbornly refusing to either take responsibility or even acknowledge a floor wide problem until somebody above them points it out to them.
And shame on your colleagues for not being brave enough to back you at the point where it was needed most
@Picklebobble2 That’s exactly it, yeah. Someone above her is the only thing I see making her change her methods. Unfortunately she at the top of our little casino and we don’t have any contacts to her bosses even though she’s mentioned having to answer to them.
I do wish someone would have said something, but they’re just afraid of losing a job they need for the time being no matter how awful it is. They have families to provide for and everything. I don’t have any of that, so I can risk more and take the fall for us if needed.
I'm hoping you have my luck. Working in Quality control/assurance I've had my fair share of harsh battles with management and company presidents. I can't say I won all of them but I never got fired for standing my ground.
Every time I hear stories like this I think of Allen McDonald trying to stop the Challenger launch and it pisses me off.
@Reject yeah going into known high turn over is knowing it's going to be miserable. It can be a rough road but you're still young and I hope you stumble into the unexpected and land someplace you're comfortable with.
@Gibbon Thanks for that. I’m currently applied to a sitter position that is full, but a friend of mine who works there put in a good word in for me and I’m the next backup applicant just in case any of them leave. I’ll try to endure this job for the time being. The money is nice, but thankfully it’s not needed. So if the worst happens I’ll be just fine.
When anger is justified it’s a whole other story … what you did was for the greater good.
Trying to reach a healthy compromise with someone unwilling to step up to take accountability for themselves is one of the most infuriating.. mind numbing … soul testing things ever so what you did in the face of that was justified and your friends thanks you for it … I beg those hugs felt good 😌
You’re a true Champ in a world where medals of honour are worn by the wrong kinds people.
@Felina Lack of accountability in bosses is normal unfortunately. It’s a common business practice that employees are only valued as far as their ability to do their job. However, almost no one is happy being treated that way which is why nearly all jobs are hated. Now I have to take responsibility for the team where they won’t. It’s a problem, but one I can help with even if they never do change.
Another one of my coworkers got fired today and you should’ve seen the smile on his face. So I’m happy for him.
When you're rank and file security you DO NOT rock the boat and confront the boss, SPECIALLY not at a casino, trust me on this. Consider yourself lucky if you still have a job and your guard card card at the end of the week.
