Do me a favor and not ever join the PTA okay?

A few years ago we moved and I thought joining would be good to make sure my son was fitting in ok and that things were ok. I shouldn't have joined because the moment i walked in those doors and said hi those women hated me. I tried being nice, i tried to ignore the comments and i tried to fit in with that group. nobody invited my son or i to their little parties or gatherings, i got ignored when i tried to make a comment on something. if i did get put on a activity i got the smallest or worst jobs.i said cool i can bring snacks or cool i can help set up for the dance and i just got put on dumb ass get the soda duty or you can clean up. the next year i didnt rejoin because im not being part of no damn group that thinks im trash or thinks im dumb or thinks im not good enough. those hos can do whatever they want as long as my son gets treated good i dont give a shit. he's made friends and is doing good school wise and that's all i can ask for and want. he's going to middle school next year anyway so i wont have to deal with half those hos ever again anyways. maybe its different for you but if you are thinking about it just keep in mind you could deal with what i dealed with.

When our kids started school, we tried joining the PTA to help out. The school's local PTA chapter was still living in the 1950's assuming (1) only Moms would get involved and (2) all Moms were stay-at-home Moms with nothing else to do but housework. The meetings were only held as coffee klatches during the day. Reality was that almost all Moms were working Moms with jobs outside the home, nearly a third were single working Moms, and in the two-income families most of the Dads were co-parenting. We started working directly with the school principal who was willing to meet in the evenings, grateful for our help, and let the PTA wither on the vine.
@dancingtongue YAY good for you. Let ALL the PTA's die on the vine, they have been getting away with disgusting actions for far too long. We cannot allow poorly educated adult bullies to dictate our kids education.
