Change of Hearts

Have you ever found out something about a parent, grandparent, or older relative that completely changed how you saw them?

My mom always blamed my grandpa for all her problems because he didn't tell her about the family he had before her.

The truth is that she could never blame the alcohol. Everything was the problem except for that. It had such a strong hold over her, but I'm sure it hurt to know she had a brother and sister she never met either.

I found out after he passed that my Father had an affair and possibly had a child with her. Then, after my Mother passed, I found her journal. She wrote that because I looked like my father, she hated me a little.

@WanderingHelplessly sorry to hear that. Some of my older siblings hate me for a similar reason.

@DeadOrbit It's sad. I had a friend when his Father passed. They were gung-ho to help him clean out and fix his parents' house. A lawyer told them to hold up, as it stated in the will my friend was to stay in the house and make sure nothing was stolen. Then a list of things. His siblings did everything they could. I think it messed him up, having his family turn on him.

Yes, I found out about some family secrets after a couple of them died. Super sad.

Alcohol has also had a strong hold on my mum and my brother (my brother ended up taking his life).
