Do you really have to please someone for them to like you? Cause I don't think so.

I think you just have to be you so they get to know you and you get to know how they treat you as you are. So you get to be yourself and they get to see you, see for yourselves if you can stick around in each other's presence without feeling like murder or regret.

I agree with you. At the same time, there’s an element of mutual pleasing in what you described. I think the important thing is to not get wrapped up in trying so hard to be likable that one abandons their nature or becomes self-harming.
