Ok im going to give my opinion

Abortion sucks. But like many things in life its a necessary evil that must exist because well people in general suck. Is it a right no because at the end of the day its a medical procedure done by doctors and nurses and nothing give you the right to the fruits of someone's labor. Ive said what i said.

Personally, I assign moral weight based on the sentience standard. 1st trimester is almost certainly not sentient, so aborting one of 'em isn't a big deal. Having to abort a 2nd or 3rd trimester fetus is a tragedy, but as you said, life is complicated. Don't blame anyone for having a different moral standard though, fetus morality is messy.

@BlueVeins I was commenting that I appreciate reading someone's post who shares moral standards. I never stated that everyone must share the moral standards. Everyone is free to have their own.

My philosophy ( not anyone elses ) is simple. I believe it is wrong to kill an innocent human especially those who are unable to defend themselves. I have never been an embryo or a fetus who has been aborted, but science says ( not religion ) by the end of 4 wks ( usual time a woman knows that she is pregnant ) the body is taking form and the heart is beating, by the end of 9 to 12 wks external genital organs are present fingernail and toenails appear, eyelids form, arms and legs are fully formed, and the voice box ( larynx) begin to form a a trachea. This is the end of the 1st trimester.
@missyann I don’t care if you think it’s wrong as long as it’s legal.

@LeopoldBloom At one time it was legal and accepted by a civilized, church going society to own slaves. It wasn't considered immoral, after all black people weren't " really " human beings deserving of the same life as " real " human beings. It was simple, if one died you would just buy another one. 1868 they were now said to be human beings but sadly it took 96 years for a civilized society to grant them the basic human rights that every other human being has and even longer for them to actually receive those rights.

I'm sure glad that a civilized society has evolved enough to see that all born human beings are worthy and deserving of life. Maybe one day a civilized society will evolve enough to see that unborn lives are worthy and deserving of life. Especially since everyone walking the planet was once an unborn life.

Your legal excuse means nothing. You've got to do better than that to convince me that murdering developing human beings should be accepted

@missyann "At one time it was legal and accepted by a civilized, church going society to own slaves. It wasn't considered immoral, after all black people weren't " really " human beings deserving of the same life as " real " human beings."

A small elite of wealthy white and jewish people bought black slaves from wealthy black warlords. The average "church going" member of the US did not profit from this at all, nor support it. In fact it was quite the opposite. Slavery was unpopular for moral, religious, and economic reasons. This wealthy one percent who owned monopolies on business just needed to make a single payment to have a slave work for life, meaning they had no incentive to pay a white employee each month for the same work, meaning your average white american was stuck in poverty whilst the powerful got more and more powerful.

This would result in what we see today, the rich consolidating more and more power. That's all they cared for, regardless of skin colour (though that in of itself is not a bad thing, it's the Pereto principle). They didnt represent society as a whole. . It was the same issue at play that we have now, a small number of billionaires who own most of the wealth who make decisions on what to do with that wealth which are completely out of tune with what the average person wants, but it's their money, we can't stop them and naturally they use it to consolidate more power, as slavery did back then. The issue is people wanting more and more power, whether they are black, jewish or white. Absolutely nothing to do with being human. We all know, and have always known that all the races are real human beings. They wouldn't be able to take orders if they weren't human beings. if over night, in the times of slavery, it became profitable to release every slave and proclaim black people the master race, these slave owners would have done it. All that matters is money.

Your incredibly generalising, fairy tale dumbed down version of history "means nothing. Youll have to do better than that to convince me".

@pianoplayingsteve I am responding to a post that abortion is legal. It was legal at one time to own slaves. Something being legal doesn't make it right
BlueVeins · 22-25
@pianoplayingsteve Jewish people are white.
@BlueVeins It depends.
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
@BlueVeins no they aren't, jewish people are of the tribe of jacob and white people the tribe of Esau.

But if we accept your premise, then it's fine to positively discriminate against Jews as being white they hold systemic power and you can't be racist toward a group that hold systemic power.
