@missyann OK, so let's take that to its logical conclusion. A woman engages in consensual sex with the understanding that she might become pregnant. Pregnancy also entails the risk of maternal death. By having consensual sex, the woman is, in essence, accepting the possibility that she might die giving birth. The ZEF in contrast has made no agreement of any kind. So in a situation where either the mother's life can be saved or the ZEF's, to be consistent with "having sex requires birth," you would have to let the mother die if that was the only way to save the ZEF. Yet most PL are OK with abortion to save the mother's life - in fact, for some PL, that's the only exception they will allow. So there's an essential contradiction here.

@Lila15 Abortion or the mother's heart will stop beating ( death ) of course an abortion. This isn't anything close to having an elective abortion. This would not be done an abortion clinic, it would be done in a hospital. Drs can no longer say that every abortion is life saving

@missyann She's asking why you would value the mother over the fetus since the mother knowingly accepted the risk of death when she had sex but the fetus didn't. If your position is "she had sex so she gets what she deserves," why let her off the hook to avoid death? What about serious bodily harm, like if she finds out she has cancer right after she learns she's pregnant? If she waits to start chemo until after the kid is born, she could die, but if she starts the chemo right away, the ZEF could die.

Once you start giving women an out, it's a slippery slope. I could argue that abortion should be allowed if the woman is having a lot of morning sickness, or she'll lose her job, or she's depressed.

@LeopoldBloom Pro life and pro choice is a play on words just like everything has to be. Politically correct. A mothers right to life has never been disregarded. Even before abortion was legalized.

A woman doesn't determine" life threatening " , A Dr does. Unfortunately Drs have abused this right for so long and to justify abortion everything has become " life threatening " Those are the ones afraid of losing their license. A Dr knows that a " woman life " and a " woman health " has different criteria to consider.

Ectopic pregnancy, fatal illness like leukemia and cancer . The purpose of treatment and the surgery shouldn't be to kill the baby, the purpose should be to save the mothers life. Everything that can be done should be done to save the baby's life also. Sometimes we're not able to save both but shouldn't we at least want too ? Especially since babies are viable as early as 21 wks, why don't we want to do everything we can ?

Has any woman ever heard a Dr say " your baby MUST DIE so that you can LIVE ?
