just curious - my parents were married for 68 years when my mom just died - how long were your parents married?

@Bottomschmackenloudenboomer: that is a very long time when you think of it.

@ronisme1: My grandparents (on my mum's side) celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1983. My grandad died six months later, aged 77. My grandmother did not die until 2012, at the age of 104.

104- wow - that is the oldest person i have heard of that someone actually knew - you will live a really long life.

@ronisme1: My grandmother is the only one in our family to have lived anywhere near that long so far (all the others have gone at 83 or younger). However, I do think my mum stands a good chance of becoming the second one to reach the century mark. She is 81 now and still in reasonably good health.
