Couple of things. 'Politically correct' is a code word launched by neo-cons as a way of defending racism, sexism and intolerance. Not sure if it's the appropriate phrase here.
No. It's not cool to harass nerds. People who do are weak and insecure. That's how that works.
I also think the people who 'support' bullies are typically very young and haven't learned yet that those young "nerds" are going to grow up and make fifty times the money that the bully does.

@Ynotisay: That's not true. Statistically, nerds doesn't earn much more than popular people. But yeah, I know that "politically correct" is kinda used this way by neocons (I'm a leftist libertarian, for that matter), but I'm using this expression in the sense of... you know... people often lie for approval. Like when they're asked if they find extremely ugly people beautiful.
