Depressed and sad people are so distraught that they can't see past the moment or past their pain. It takes time and emotional support to get to a better frame of mind.
@Smtwn829: Interesting. Maybe it helps to empower oneself with some challenges along the way.

People are as sad for however long they are sad. So no, it's not always a question of "bawling ones tears out...and moving forward". Sometimes one's heart and mind doesn't set so easily.

I understand that there are things that will stay with a person for the rest of their life. but some of the best people I have met use it as a motivation and move forward. What bothers me are the ones that hide away to wallow in grief.
