If a doctor gave you five years to live, what would you try to accomplish?

I'd move back in with my ex-wife. Then those five years would seem like 50.

I would make sure my family is thanked, and appreciated for putting up with me for all this time. I would make sure everything is taken care of, so they wouldn't have undue stress with it all after I'm gone. Grief is awful enough.

@LachrymoseLamer: because I have been through it. It was awful having to deal with my Dad's death, and helping everyone get through it. I refused to cry in front of my Mom. To this day, she appreciates that.

5 years is still a fair amount of time. I'd get in as much travel possible and as much time with my loved ones.
Career will not be an important part of my life anymore.

Well, it would be just enough time to see my youngest reach adulthood. I'd do my best to spend my time with my children, continuing to build memories, but it would sure be sad because five years is my ticket to freedom. I suppose dying would be freedom, but it's not the freedom I was hoping for.

Well said. :)

I'd fix my relationship, volunteer a lot more with special needs kids, do everything in my power to graduate early so I could start my teaching career, and have at least one child.

That's awesome! 👍

You're the first person who wants to fight! Good on you!! 👍😀
I had a little problem when I was about 30 and as soon as I was out of xray I told the nurse I wanted to see the doctor immediately. I was given vague answers until I talked to the doctor and told him I wanted this thing taken care of immediately. IMO in the world of medicine you have to fight for your life. I was in surgery the following week. Doctors sometimes have a tendency to wait too long, It is my life and I will fight for it until the end.
