I am scared about the utopia some people think they want to bring to reality.

I am scared of what some people see as utopia and want to bring to reality. I just hope they dont convince the majority of people of these things.
I dont think marijuana should be legal then usually someone says what about alcohol well if alcohol was illegal I would not want to make it legal either. I dont care what drugs are worse or better it is bad for masses to be doing them. My husband thinks marijuana is safe and fine to use even recreationally. I do not even think it should be legal medicinally.
My mom thinks affairs and prostitution and polygamy should be legal. She cheated on my dad, I thought they had a good marriage but after 34 years it was over. Prostitution raises the amount of stis polygamy is bad for children. I dont understand how anyone can think these are good ideas. If shes not happy in her marriage that dosent mean she can just ruin other peoples lives.
I think abortion should be legal and that got taken away in some states.
People have been hating schools and colleges and saying homeschool is better. I do not think homeschooling is better i would rather be in a public or private school.
Women are encouraged to be working full time mothers then when are they going to see their children. It seems like so many things are off, people are falling in love with artificial intelligence, I think there are more shootings and riots. No one has close friends anymore or goes out at all and the rising distrust in vaccines and modern medicine. I feel like I dont even belong to any political party because im a centrist. Also I think political leaders are not talking about what is really important, the planet ending pollution and homelessness. Instead they are legalizing drugs to encourage homelessness. People are not going on dates staying single not having kids. I dont understand how any of this is progress.

I think a lot of it depends on what you believe is a government's role in determining day to day decisions of people's lives. It's society responsible for protecting people from themselves.

Marijuana is a hot topic example. Why should the government be making a decision about whether an adult is able to use it or not? I think there is a solid car for not letting people drive while high or not smoking in public. I find it harder to say why a person shouldn't use it privately at home other than its not good for them. But junk food isn't good for them either and we don't do anything about that. Further, making it illegal doesn't destroy demand. It actually builds a profit base for illegal trade which leads directly to a rise in crime.

I don't use the stuff myself. I hate feeling impaired. And I've seen what it does to people who use it a lot over long periods of time. It's not the worst drug, but it definitely weakens mental faculty over time.

As for why everything seems to be falling apart, it kind of is. We've reached a state in our economy where constant growth is nearly impossible and the system demands constant growth. Trust in the system is wavering, people don't feel secure. Everyone is scared and tired and lacking energy from just surviving. Which leads more people to turn to those drugs.

Overall, violent crime isn't really worse and in many places it's better than it was fifty years ago. There are a few cities where that is an exception and they really are becoming hellholes. But the media is going to make sure you hear about absolutely every scary thing that happens because that's what drives their profit.

I really do believe the place to start fixing everything is in promising basic economic security to all. Doesn't have to be fancy, but just the promise of having shelter, food, Healthcare, and education no matter what would be a big boon for people. Taking away that survival fear would fix a lot.

The other side of the equation is community building. We're all afraid of each other because we don't know each other. This used to be a really vital function of the church. I don't believe in any gods and don't like religion, but the churches had a way of bringing people together that we should be learning from.

Let people feel secure and get people knowing each other again.
