I don't talk about it anymore and haven't with my therapist even yet

But I had a boyfriend that would grab my hands so I couldn't leave while he yelled in my face

He wouldn't let me close doors

He said I had to kneel whenever he entered the room.

I did.

He stepped on my face when we had sx

He told me no one would ever love me

He ripped me out of the bath and locked me out of our apartment with only a towel on

He threatened to hit Lucy.

I slashed my arm open to stop him.

He came to the hospital and threatened me after he called the ambulance.

He demeaned me for needing stitches.

I left him.

He found out where I was and convinced me to come back.

My friend's mum said, "you don't have to go with him... I don't feel good about this." (They were giving me shelter).

I had spent Thanksgiving with their lovely family and had two weeks of peace where I focused on my plants and art.

As soon as we got in the uhaul (I paid for) he said, "you fking owe me one."

I remembered the dread.

The way he'd hold me.

The way he'd force me on the floor and lay on top of me so I couldn't move.

I am 5'5" and was 115lbs and he was 6'4" and I don't know how heavy.

But I couldn't get him off.

I reached out to his ex and she said he did the same things to her but she didn't want to talk about it.

I am glad I eventually was able to break free of him but it took a cousin I had never met who had also survived abuse.

Luckily it only took four tries.

This man had taken my phone when I felt unsafe.

He had r ped me several times.

He constantly told me I was insane and unloveable.

He isolated me and I lost a lot but I am SO MUCH stronger now.

Thank you, mfer.

You can't break a strong woman. And now I can help other victims.

Oh yeah, and side note. Abusive relationships move super quick.

There is so much more that happened but I only dated this guy for a little over a year and we lived together for only a few months.

Things escalated extremely quickly.

And look at where you are now. Safe and being a boss.

@V00dooLovesTheMoon yes. And mostly I do look at that.

It feels like fairytale

@V00dooLovesTheMoon I am grateful to myself. I did this. Even though I still don't believe it
What an absolutely disgusting and weak excuse of a man. You're amazing to have been able to come out the other side because lord knows it isn't easy. You've truly come such a long way since then. I'm happy for you💙 I know a lot of this stays with a person and most of life is fundamentally learning how to work with it. From the advocacy work to the care taking, you're making small waves and that matters so much. You're incredible. I'm sorry you suffered through so much💙

@HijabaDabbaDoo thank you, girl 💙

It does stay with me in a lot of ways I am probably not fully aware of yet.

But I am happy to have survived it. It was escalating quickly and realistically I got out easy. I was very lucky.

I do remember my (distanced) friends being really concerned and telling me, "I am afraid he is going to kill you."

And yeah, looking back, it was a possibility.

He was a social worker. And he would constantly tell me, "you can't repeat this/tell anyone about this because I work with vulnerable populations."

He would threaten me when his friends weren't in the room. Put his hand around my throat when no one was around.

Make me apologize to HIS family for situations I supposedly caused. It was so confusing
@caccoon it kinda sounds like he weaponised his job to isolate you even more. This is part of why I try to avoid idealising people with certain patterns regardless of what they do. Abusers are in every profession and space, unfortunately. He sounds so calculated and strategic and that's so heavily consuming when you're stuck in it.

Genuinely so scary, I'm really glad you're on the other end of it. You're worth all the safety and love💙

@HijabaDabbaDoo thank you so much 💙💙

I am so glad I am out. It's crazy I still think about it sometimes. For years after I was away from him I would literally see his face on other people's faces.

Passing me on the street, walking last me at the market, in a vehicle driving past. I would see his gross face plastered on people and I don't ever think he was here. It's weird ahahah

Trauma, I guess.

I remember fully screaming at someone to pull out of a parking lot because he pulled up beside us. I was SO SURE and I needed to GTFO

Omg. Fuck

Men like this exist by the thousands. It’s a disgrace
Glad you’re safe now.

@Younameit I wish they didn't.

@DearAmbellina2113 you are always welcome to talk about your own experiences on my posts, especially ones like this.

I think we need to talk about this sort of thing more. 💙 It can be hard to drudge up the memories, but we can release them eventually
