Ugh I'm so tired of people that "match energies" 🤢

The whole expression matching energies makes my eyes roll.

I can understand it in certain situations. My job has a several guys who I like as people but really do not like as co workers. They are unabashedly lazy and will happily leave routine work that they consider beneath them to the rest of us. So I decided to make myself scarce when they're pulling that shit, force them to do their jobs.

For me it's because it's far too draining to be the empathetic healer all the time. Especially when I was working at the call center- if they got rude with me, I would always try to play "the therapist" and calm them down so their energy would match mine. But if that didn't work, my walls went up and I got just as rude with them. It had to be that way, or I'd just be an anxious sobbing wreck at work all day.

Everyone is so fuckin' scared these days of giving like 3% more than they get out of an interpersonal relationship these days. Everyone's reading like 60 pages of reddit horror stories where the OP got taken advantage of in some way, and everyone imagines themselves in the shoes of the victim and not the advantage taker.

Do people really do that? Yikes. Sort of like emulation then.
But it's probably not black and white. I may need to think about it.
