I also had 2 more bump-ins yesterday actually. What do you feel about it?
So in my previous 2 posts, I shared that I bumped into this woman Anagha in Lavelle Road of our city Bangalore in India and she was my classmate during my engineering undergrads years but she wasn't the only one whom I bumped into. In Lavelle Road itself, I bumped into this Bhutanese woman too but she isn't just any random woman. She is a barista in this Cafe named Isobel Coffee House in Lavelle Road where I used to visit quite frequently and have Frappes. This Bhutanese barista (lets call her B1) used to talk to me as I was basically a regular. As my hometown is Siliguri in West Bengal which is the gateway to North East India and Bhutan, we would talk about it. The other staffs are mostly from the North East and Darjeeling too. So I remember if I used to not come for a few days too, this female cashier from Darjeeling used to jokingly say that B1 was missing me. B1 also used to ask me about whether I visited Siliguri recently or not and once she asked me how are you and when I asked her how are you too, she said "I am pretty". She even jokingly said me that she saw me in Vittal Mallya road but I never noticed her. Overall the vibe used to become playful but I didn't visit the Cafe for 5 months as its quite expensive and I started visiting more expensive Cafes too like Araku, Starbucks and UB City mall Cafes. But yesterday I saw her in Lavelle Road as her shift got over at the evening around 5 PM. I said her Hi and she smiled and said me Hi back. This time it wasn't a customer-barista interaction but 2 autonomous adults interacting. She recognized me and we asked each other how are you. I also mentioned that its been such a long time since I went to the Cafe and she asked me why didn't come to the Cafe. I simply answered that I didn't get the time but I also said I will most likely visit this coming week. Then I said her have a great day and the ended the interaction.
Now I will share about this another bump-in. I again bumped into this American expat woman in the courtyard area of Church Street. So a month ago we had a long walking interaction on the sidewalk of Church Street, and she actually works in IISc (Indian Institute of Science) which is one of the top Universities in Bangalore. My cousin is also a professor there in IISc so I shared about it to her and it became a good shared topic to talk about. So yeah we had a great interaction that day. I am 25 and she is also mostly in her mid to late 20s. Yesterday I saw her in the courtyard area buying some perfumes from the perfume vendor shop there. I initiated a conversation saying her hello and recognized her and she too smiled and said me hello and she too recognized me as well. We had a short conversation asking how are you and everything. The song "What Do you Mean" by Justin Bieber was also playing in the background of the courtyard which was making me feel much more confident and the main character energy. I even said about the song to her but had to disengage faster saying her Have a great day as she was buying perfumes and not fully free like the previous interaction. But whats crazy was when I was talking with her, I wasn't even standing in front of the vendor shop but at the side when talking and the 2 shopkeepers inside that perfume shop were repeatedly staring at me. Yeah they were literally moving their head and looking at me a lot as we were both talking. It felt crazy how What Do You Mean was playing, we were talking and those 2 dudes kept moving their head to stare. I already shared how this older man in his 50s gave an intense angry stare to me when I talked to Anagha and now I am sharing how those 2 perfume shopkeepers kept staring too so yeah I got plenty of stares yesterday when I socialized.
Few other socializing: These weren't bump-ins but I had a brief interaction with these 2 Tibetan women too in this Cafe in Indiranagar and when I shared my hometown is Siliguri, they literally recognized it and we had a pleasant but brief interaction. Another one was with this group of 3 women in Church Street- one of whom was an expat from West Africa and other 2 were Indian women. Overall I started the interaction saying how I enjoy talking to people from different backgrounds and cultures and we had a quite bubbly interaction especially the West African woman but it was brief again as Church Street was quite crowded in the weekend.
