Why are archeologists so interested in finding out how the pyramids were built?

I heard there is a lot of talk about bringing back pyramids after they discovered the Thevy Box in downtown Cincinnati.

So they can catch them before they start building pyramids all over the place.

Built one block at a time until the last one was put in place!

You could ask that of any archaeological or historical quest.

If they could find out it might get shot of the fantasists waffling about ancient civilisations' unknown, very advanced "technology" (not engineering?) long lost to us. Yes - the self-contradiction is deliberate as it sums the fantasists up.

In fact various people have experimented, credibly, with techniques likely to have been known and used at the time.

On a serious level though, it would be very interesting generally to know more about the ancients.

It's just a part of understanding the past so we don't repeat the same mistakes, well not as applicable as that, but to provide ever fuller pictures of what it was like, a full orbed picture takes many things into account that just don't seem all that important except to specialists.
