In fact, I like it better when people don't have tunnel vision and idealize me. Gives me much needed space.

Idealized means to picture something as perfect (ignoring its flaws), while idolized means to revere or worship a person to an excessive degree.
Plenty of reasons why people idealize others, and it is rarely related to the idealized person.
