Just my nature
A scorpion, being a very poor swimmer, wanted to cross a wide river. He spotted a frog sitting on a lily pad and crawled over to him."Good day, Mr. Frog," said the scorpion. "Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across this deep river?"The frog scoffed. "Are you mad? If I let you onto my back, you will sting me, and I will die!""Now, think about that logically," the scorpion replied. "If I were to sting you, you would sink and drown. Since I cannot swim, I would drown right along with you. It would be foolish of me to do that."The frog thought about this argument. It made perfect sense. Realizing that the scorpion had every reason to keep him alive, the frog agreed to the favor. He swam over to the riverbank, and the scorpion climbed onto his smooth back. The frog leaped into the water and began paddling across the strong current.Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp, burning pain in his back. His muscles grew numb, and he realized he had been stung. As the water began to rush over his head and they both started to sink, the frog cried out in disbelief and agony."Why did you do that?" gasped the drowning frog. "Now we are both going to die!"The scorpion shrugged sadly as the water swallowed them up. "I could not help it," he whispered. "It is in my nature.
