I hope someday someone cares to listen to my stories...

In the end that's all you really have. And if you don't share it's like it never happened.

I've learned from being around elders, they really want to share and be heard. They lose control of their bodies, their homes, possessions and abilities, all they have are these memories.

I love to listen and I really have heard some cool stories and met some amazing people from all over the world just in this one little assisted living community.

It's so interesting and mind expanding for me. They love that someone will listen. And in a way, they can live on in my memories now too.

Maybe it's a clinging to life. A need to feel important and not knowing how to cope with not existing. But it's definitely human. And it's meaningful, for whatever it's worth.

I know I've got a pretty cool story. Maybe someone will care when I'm an elder.

My friend does this thing where he calls elderly people for a hour weekly. I forget the name of the program, but I might get involved.

Everyone has a story, and you can learn something from anyone.

@uncalled4 it's unendingly interesting. It's a piece of history and a window into someone's whole life. It's powerful I think. In an ancient way, we need to pass on our stories

@ScreamingFox I'm working on an idea about recording the stories of "ordinary" people before they're lost to time.

I think most people don’t really wanna be forgotten because their existence meant they had an effect on people during their time.

And thinking of the possibility that one can feel happy or sad about you - makes your existence all the more worth it

@stayfickle yup, it's pure human

Heck SF I'd listen to you now

I remember hearing about the trip and thought it was amazing!
ScreamingFox · 41-45, F
@Pretzel it's cool to hear about someone's life, told by them when they know they don't have very long left. I met an Italian lady today and we talked about cookies 🫠

@ScreamingFox I suspect they can skip the pretense as well
