You ever think life tests you?

In my opinion, toxic relationships mark us in weird ways. We leave one such relationship, but we don’t leave unscathed. The human animal, like other animals, has ancient skills to find prey.

Our posture, our voice, our eyes, indicate that we have experienced toxic lifestyles and we carry the signs. And the predators can read them.

This is part of the reason we leave one abuser and almost immediately the next one finds us. And it’s part of why people emerging from a toxic environment should NOT seek a new relationship too soon. It feels familiar, it feels comfortable, it’s what we know.

I think of it as “the wounded gazelle” syndrome. The wounded, the weak, the frightened are the ones lions search for.

We are tested in many ways and all we can do is try our best and if we fail
Pick yourself up dust yourself off and start all over again until we get it right
The main point is to never give up and keep going
