Should high school, 9th to 12th grade include vocational training and a career pathway?

There were both types of high schools available within the public school system when I was growing up. And even at my Catholic school, there were extra classes like Wood shop, Metal shop and Home Economics. What was unfair back then was that those classes were restricted by gender; I liked building things and my father had already taught me how, but no girls were allowed in Wood shop. So I took Home Ec as an elective, but I also already knew how to cook and sew.

@bijouxbroussard yes it’s important for such instructions to encourage independence. Sadly these are always the first types of classes to be cut/eliminated.
