Do you ever think about when you won't be here ?

I mean as in, no longer alive 🥺 I think of it often lately. Having crippling anxiety for years has severely halted my life , aspirations, dreams. And I think, what if I can't heal in time to do what I WANT in this life?
It makes you wonder, how none of our fears or anxieties will matter when we are not here. It's one way I guess to say Eff it! About anything that holds us back.🤔💜

I've thought of it a lot actually. Two incidents, one during my years on active duty and one during the subsequent years with the DoD, forced me to confront our mortality. The details of the incidents themselves aren't important, but I've shared them with a few people here. After both incidents there were people who never stood again.

There, but for the grace of God, go I ...

I've come to the realization that, for all of us, life is about today. We need to treat every single human interaction as if it may be our last. A stranger on the street ... the barrister who messed up your order ... the server who left you sitting there ... We are all just people struggling to get through another day. I don't care you skin color, your gender, your biology, your culture, your faith ... You are a person and from me you will receive respect and love because we might not be here tomorrow.
@sarabee1995 It's true, about treating people kindly. There are a lot of people out there without the capacity to understand this but it's true.

As for whether there's a higher power or not, I still struggle with that idea.

@SinlessOnslaught Don't worry so much about whether He does or doesn't exist. Just open your heart to the possibility and in the quiet moments, close your eyes and listen. 🙏♥🫂

@sarabee1995 Amen. I'm an engineer and I require facts to believe things. I easily see how science confirms God. Things do not just happen outside of their "design". The defining moment for me was my grandma passing. I was with my grandpa's sister who was a long time Catholic nun. We both saw my grandma's soul leave her and go upward. She was in a coma. That was it for me. And for a person of deep faith, definitive proof for my Catholic nun aunt as well.
