He grew. Bit by bit moving on, gathering new thoughts and experiences, gaining and losing close friends and being transformed spiritually until, like the physical body, nothing of the original was left except memories.

I thought this was going to be about transformation and growth and it was. I was taken aback by the last line. Not the happy ending I was guessing.

@Infamous607 Thank you. It's more of a poetic reflection sparked by your 'opener'. I am happy that I am no longer the shy, bullied person I was as a child and ended up with the metaphorical comparison of the cells of the body constantly renewing.
