The Walmarts of the world, governments, even lawyers of the world love this argument. Place all responsibility upon the individual even though collectively we are messing things up. There is somewhere between that holds responsibility in balance, I mean if I buy mouldy bread from the bakery it's on me to notice but it's also on them to not sell.
It's called collective responsibility.

@awildsheepschase For me it’s not about my actions mattering to someone else. If that was the case there would be too much room for darker behaviors like manipulation. When you do something just because you want something in return.
I certainly agree that it takes a village to raise a child, but we are not children. We’re adults who are supposed to do the raising ourselves which means if we’re just as dependent as our children, we’re no better than them and become part of the problem.

@Reject I think you are misunderstanding the influence community makes. We can be adults, but I have met adults who have made influence upon my life who give me meaning and teachings. In my eyes, you have compartmentalized things within philosophy of self so they make sense to you, when I promise you we are all still just people in the world and in a community.

@awildsheepschase Sure. I’m not sure what I misunderstood here, but all of that makes sense to me.

Love this, don’t become what others make you believe you are, especially the negative things.
Took me years to let go of that person I believed I was ✨

@Achelois Yes! I think a big part of maturing is realizing that you are not dependent on the world around you like you were as a kid. You become independent and define yourself. You can do this regardless of the world and whatever it might do to you. While you can’t help whatever happens to you, you can certainly help how you respond.
I will say it again, you're a wise man
