Is SW a faithful cross section of the world outside the app?

I was thinking ...
The people who come here are the same people we interact with, out there in our daily life.
They are the same people.
The difference is that in real life people don't go about handing out d pics, or telling everybody about what they had for breakfast.
It dawned on me the other day at work while talking to a coworker.

I thought,

This guy could be like one of those extreme SW members and he's wearing a full diaper right now! While talking to me about the Drivers schedules.

Who knows what people are into. And if I'm going to use the population here as a guide, he's probably into some strange thing and here I am shaking his hand not knowing where he's been.

So at least here, I know what the guy or woman I'm talking to is into because within the first five minutes, they'd let me know.

Then I wondered...Is the population of SW intrinsically different or unique. Which would leave large chunks of society not represented here.
Or, is SW a cross section of the real world.

Any thoughts?

What is though a faithful cross section of the world outside? I'm not sure that we are even alike at times. Take the subject matter on the daily news. Who watches television coverage at both ends? Are we indeed general informed enough to even aspire to be in main stream of opinion? As a religious nut but non-American I refuse however to ever pray for Trump. There's much in that statement alone. As in stating that I'm a conservative

Seems we are less informed now, despite of all the technology.

@Infamous607 You put that nicely in a nutshell... I'm actually again talking to someone on here who thinks that I'm American because I use American sayings... strange people!

Why strange? I would probably assume the same if we were just texting here.

"refugees from Ukraine are indeed better treated than those of Africa or the Middle East."

Definitely!!

Also interesting how certain groups are called expats while Africans, Mexicans and middle eastern people are immigrants.

@Infamous607 Yes, I know. But then again one can't say the truth any more because then one gets blocked. They'll do that till they block anyone else even caring for their cause. Very sad to experience that time after time

My mother used to not to worry if someone owes you a small amount of money, but doesn't pay you back.
She'd say...it only cost you 20 dollars to get rid of them.
It's the same with getting blocked here. Small price to get rid of them.

@Infamous607 Perhaps I'm the sort of person who enjoys a challenge? Not staying in the same sort of discussion each time is already something for letting them block me. Boring how they can't learn. Luckily they're not part of any government yet

@val70
That's the point right there. Some people get it, they can learn, they just don't want to.l

@Infamous607 I know. I actually had someone here admitting later on that I was right about how peace in the Middle East is nowhere in sight now. Admit that the Two-State solution was gone because one side of the conflict doesn't want it any more and thus there's not going to be peace

I think it takes someone exceptional to recognize when they are wrong and should evaluate their thinking.
Some peoples views are too involved with friends and work and church, to the point that breaking with some ideas if beliefs means they would have to go against every support system they enjoy.
And very few people are able or willing to do that.
So it is a literal waste of time arguing with them.
Same with us sometimes I think
