Is SW a faithful cross section of the world outside the app?

I was thinking ...
The people who come here are the same people we interact with, out there in our daily life.
They are the same people.
The difference is that in real life people don't go about handing out d pics, or telling everybody about what they had for breakfast.
It dawned on me the other day at work while talking to a coworker.

I thought,

This guy could be like one of those extreme SW members and he's wearing a full diaper right now! While talking to me about the Drivers schedules.

Who knows what people are into. And if I'm going to use the population here as a guide, he's probably into some strange thing and here I am shaking his hand not knowing where he's been.

So at least here, I know what the guy or woman I'm talking to is into because within the first five minutes, they'd let me know.

Then I wondered...Is the population of SW intrinsically different or unique. Which would leave large chunks of society not represented here.
Or, is SW a cross section of the real world.

Any thoughts?

"Faithful" cross section? Hmm... I think it could be every which way from one extreme to the next, going by observations over the years plus some I have known more closely for many years, yet...

I believe many come here to act out or behave in ways what they can't or don't in the real world. Which can defo leave the thought of the people on the street, in the grocery isle that you interact with, being "one of those extreme SW members and he's wearing a full diaper right now!". Yikes.

We really don't know people on here like maybe we think we do. As was said, we get glimpses.

@Magenta we get glimpses. That's pretty good. Maybe we only give others glimpses of ourselves as well.

@Magenta about the guy wearing a full diaper. Yeah. That's the image my brain goes to whenever I see someone a bit not the norm. Right there I think. Hm maybe he's one of those. Not in a bad way but in a id rather fist pump you than shake your hand kinda thing

@Infamous607 I know I do. I'm quite private.

@Infamous607 I think a lot or some of it is some hidden fetish they don't actually participate in in the real world.

@Magenta Ahh, good point. So this is their only way to express it. That makes a lot of sense.
That means that here or out there we are the same. Difference is being able or not to express it openly. Yes?

@Infamous607 In some respects yes. But I also meant (some) people come to social media to project what they wish or pretend that they are, like wishful thinking.
We can name ourselves a Goddess or a Warrior or anything that we wish to be like an alter ego or separate persona.

@Magenta
Hm
Yeah I get that..Didnt think about that one. Good thinking.
Now I wonder if those things we wish we could be or pretend to be, is who we truly are inside.
Thinking about that now.

@Magenta You are right come here to act out because we can’t elsewhere. Same people you know maybe not the same portions of weirdness or then again maybe is.
