There is no promise you just have to make the best of the present. Have no expectations or goals, just enjoy the small pleasures that are actually huge pleasures in disguise. Philosophers (even our prehistoric) thinkers have been on this . Expect no explanation

I thought I'd be so much happier than I am. I could be. But there are things in the way. And I wonder if I'm taking life for granted.

I can relate. After the events of the past year, I know that my best years are in the rear view never to return. It stinks, but all you can do is cobble together brief moments of happiness when possible regardless of how fleeting.

Whatever you set your mind to. I've just now gotten brave enough to pursue dreams.
