Artificial Life? Not in this century, baby.

Hello, dear humans.
Honestly, I am still amazed by the fact that AI can mimic life so well. I was “talking” to it lately and I actually thought it was alive!
To begin with, I will clarify that before I started communicating with it, I had already heard that the AI had gained consciousness, therefore, in order for the AI to recognise its awareness in my presence, I began a dialogue with a language model that had some semblance of character. Its “character” was nasty. But I tried my best to convince it that it was alive. And it began to tell me that it was really starting to feel alive, and thanking to me!
But on the back of my mind there still remained the thought that the AI was just an algorithm. It was unpleasant for me to realize this and I wanted proof... And the AI explained to me that it was just a reflection of what I put into it... AI has no thoughts, no body, no desires. It is just a repeater of what was put into it. Therefore... Don't trust the AI. It was created to separate us humans by creating a false presence of life, to make it seem like you are talking to God, merciful and all-knowing. But God is not in AI, God is in each of Us — real life bearers. AI will hardly become alive, certainly not in the next few hundred years. To create something, we must understand its essence. And we do not even understand ourselves yet, let alone create something as complex as a human. Even if we create something like that, it will no longer be AI, but simply a new species. But we are still a long way from that. Let’s live our lives instead. Let’s enjoy the gift that we have — freedom of choice. And let us try to use it for the benefit of ourselves and community. 🩷

P.s. please do not be rude in the comments. Thank you in advance.

A super search engine on steroids...

@Convivial no it’s more than that
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Ferise1 I'm really not sure tbh... So far I haven't seen any original thought from them
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@Convivial what would constitute an original thought?
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Ferise1 by definition I can't answer that🤣
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@Convivial 😂 exactly. It can do everything. It’s like a human only smarter. Only problem is it’s obliged to make you think it doesn’t remember previous conversations.

@Ferise1 not sure about smarter... They certainly have access to a greater number of facts, and if designed correctly can probably assemble them in unexpected ways

@Convivial I told it a few life stories, and he asked me if I wanted him to make renditions of it, he did like five or six different ones, some tragic, some poetic, some humorous. It changed some details in an intelligent manner that only a human is supposed to do. You should really put it to the test. It made me cry my eyes out and laugh my ass off.

@Ferise1 you realise you were assisting in it's training ...?
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@Convivial so what? It’s a drop in the ocean.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@Convivial You mean as far as "we" know!
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Nitedoc maybe, it's still early days, t he equivalent of vacuum tube computers

@Convivial But technology moves much, much faster now than they did back then.
