What people, besides your parents, were part of shaping who you are? Why?

Prince -- he was my first music interest, makes me cringe these days some of his music and movies, but amazingly enough his toetappers are still great, I would see him as a fearless non-conforming kind of entertainer.
Jim Carrey -- in his earlier comedic roles helped me see how acting goofy is an art.
Nietzsche showed me how the prevailing belief in our home could be thought against.
@MrAlmostCrazy Awesome. I am a big Jim Carrey fan too! There is a lot of genius in his madness. I agree about Nietzsche also.

@MarbleMarvel Something about mad men (and women) .... and Antonin Artaud, there's an edition of Ginsberg's Howl that cites all his inspirations, Artaud's piece on VanGogh is all about madness, and how rotten society is to them.
@MrAlmostCrazy I did read about van Gogh but I also visited the Dali museum and it was kinda delightful how he and other artists started a movement that helped embrace the weird. It's unfortunate a lot of intellect, genius and poetry are lost because of the persistence of mainstream. Humans...

@MarbleMarvel Yes, the mainstream eventually soaks up the avant-garde. But it'll take some time for some of that crazy classical that was composed in the 60's someone like Martin Subotnik. .. To be different comes at a cost, you have to really love your own company ....:)
