I have learned that people are going to do what they want to do.

They can make all the promises, assure you with "I'm gonna's", but they will never feel obligated to follow through unless they want to. I don't know why they feel the need to lie. Or perhaps they believe they will, or might...

Either way, I rely on nothing and no one. Even if someone swears they'll be there, I've already completely prepared for them to not show.

It’s sad that people can’t stay true to their word, they end up saying what they think will please everyone to just go back on it and end up causing more harm than good. People don’t think about the consequences.

It might seem cold but this is why some of us just shut people out and choose to not believe their words. Trust is way too easily broken and takes much longer to build than it does to break, and we put up walls to protect ourselves from it happening again.
@DHggmu understandable. I don't want to shut people out, but I do not often believe that they will do what they say. I'd gladly be proven wrong, it just isn't happening.

@MarbleMarvel Better to protect yourself and be pleasantly surprised than to leave yourself open to be let down again..
@DHggmu exactly.

@MarbleMarvel i agree if you make a promise unless you have extreme circumstance you cannot carry it out you should honour a promise as future ones may then be just taken as a hollow gesture

That's what I'm dealing with right now. I'm like a human version of a golden retriever, it sucks that I keep on expecting from people man. It hurts.
