Life has gotten weird

I rememeber before the internet and cell phones and apps and AI. We used to call people on the telephone if we wanted to talk to them. There wasn't this constant stimulation like there is today. People didnt gossip about other people quite so widely as now. Like all the people hating on the president and Elon Musk. All the "celebrity" bs. A million pictures flooding your eyes like 24/7. I need to get off the computer lol but thats like most of my social interaction.

I mean, sure I still read books. I even watch tv or movies occassionally, but its not like it was before, pre-internet. I mean, sure, lots of things are great. It's easy to be proficient at almost anything with so much information at your fingertips. And the shopping. You can buy almost anything you want and have it delivered to your door. Im not saying its bad its just so different from when i was younger. Now there's no escaping the internet. You need it for so many things.

Idk. I guess Im just rambling and have no real point to this. Just speaking whats on my mind. Maybe i oughta try a break from the computer. Its just so hard lol. I guess this is life now.

I wonder what people older than me think and if they have adapted the same way.

This old man is in agreement. The world was socially a better place without this technology.
I do appreciate the ability and convenience of shopping and paying bills online. But socially we have all become divided.
You were incorrect about one thing.
Gossip was still plenty. Just about the people in the neighborhood not everyone in the world.
We are forced to accept it. The old ways are removed and give us no choice.
We are unwillingly being controlled.

Well, my child we used to take galloping rides through the meadow in our covered wagons and Cookie... he was the cook, he would gather us around the campfire and tell us stories about back in his day. And, he would laugh at how easy we had it. Little did we know how our lives would change what with TV, phones, and PlayStation and X-Boxes. I still wonder what Cookie would say if he knew how we live today. Cookie was a good man... and a good cook.

I read a good article about a woman who said ahe doesn't read like she used to because she is distracted by media

@JimboSaturn Prolly the same for lots of people.
Even I miss my childhood. It's just like in last five years or post covid the world has changed.

It's pretty crazy how dependant on the Internet we are for everything. If calamity strikes and the web goes down, we'd be set back a hundred years or so.

Then I guess we'll have to interact they way we did before the Internet
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@caPnAhab We have set ourselves up for that inevitable disaster. Everything will stop as we know it.
Hmm? Post time.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@Gibbon I am 12% ready. Mentally
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@caPnAhab I figure if there's no bank access there's no billing or collections also. Hmm how long before the power shuts down?
I can't put a percentage on readiness.

It's become so addictive. I keep seeing all these books I need to read but the lure from the ether draws me back in

jackson55 · M
@akindheart Remember when people used to talk on the phone or face to face ?
antonioioio · 70-79, M
This has happened before people thinking their badly treated or cheated each thinking the other side is crowd of crocks
The last world war is an example
The only difference now is that the Internet is feeding on it and making it worse
