It didn't so much "become" 34 felonies, the District Attorney had enough evidence to charge Tяump with 34 counts of fraud.
No matter how politically motivated his supporters believe the charges were, a jury of Tяump's peers found him guilty in a court of law.

No one can remember EACH and every charge, even the Grand Jury would need notes to explain every charge. After reading the convictions myself, many of them have "fraud" as the main crime committed, and in the context of the charges, they are felonies.
