We all look at people in cults as being unfortunate but I honestly don't think it's that bad.

Obviously that doesn't include those that enable abuse of any form.

I'm talking about the everyday weirdos that are institutionalised and live in their own bubble. Is that really all that bad? It sounds like an easier life sometimes.

I wouldn't consider that a cult because it's not a few people having total control over a group of people. There are legal regulations that institutions like that have to follow. I'm against the private prison industry, but we wouldn't say a prison is a cult, since there are regulations and an entire bureaucracy having a say in how prisoners can be treated.
