Why do so many people trust their "intuition", when at least half the time it's just wrong?

It just isn't a reliable method to arrive at the truth, so why? Why do people trust their "gut instincts"? 🧐

Depends on the probable outcome of listening to it or not. If it's a case of I don't like the feeling at this party, probable outcome injury follow it. If it's I feel horse to win the next race will be Desert Orchid but I can't afford to gamble don't follow it. Etc.
