Why do so many people trust their "intuition", when at least half the time it's just wrong?

It just isn't a reliable method to arrive at the truth, so why? Why do people trust their "gut instincts"? 🧐

... not "at least", the success rate is exactly 50%, implying that "intuition" is completely useless.
(If your intuition were wrong in 90% of all cases, you could just do the opposite of what your intuition tells you, leading to a 90% success rate.)
