Old bat am I
The female gender equivalent of 'Old Fart' is 'Old Bat'. Now I know. Yes, I'm that old. What has changed? Well, my full retirement age has gone up again to 67. I started from 63 only ten years ago but the Belgian state in its wisedom changed that upwards. I need now work till I'm 67 years old for something my own dad got at 52. There's nothing to be done. Nothing will make the present generation of young people any wiser nor smarter. Atleast when I was that young I had sense.
Although it does remind me also of Sir Geoffrey Howe's resignation speech many decades ago now. I watched if live on television in a barrack's leasure room. The barracks has gone in its totality already. So have my fond memories of that little adventure. Yes, I'll be changing career again. I sense it in my bones that his old warrior isn't done yet. The love is still there too. Better to have loved than being in the awful situation of discovering one's living in a total love void.
So up and up away we go again. Nothing to be bettered nor said any more till there's yet another collar on my neck. I'm indeed not yet old enough to stop looking after myself better and hoping for much more to come. So cheers to you. I'm off to study yet again for my next round of interviews. Will start to run at a gentle pace yet again so that the motor doesn't fall to bits, but I like to experience full health of mind and body once more. There you go. Rambling done. The message was: love yourself first
