Where should I “move” to?

Move is in quotes because I’m already…sort of homeless.
I nearly died from covid in December of 2021. It has shattered my life. Since then, I’ve had many health issues making it nearly impossible to work. I’ve also tried to end my life earlier this year because of all of these issues. Some health issues were resolved but my lungs have scarring and I’ll never get better.
I want to leave Long Island, NY and start over. A red state and red county would be preferable. I’m a utility locator so an area with a lot of construction would be helpful. Until I can get back on my feet, I’ll be living out of my large sprinter van.
So what are your suggestions?

So I left New York with only $1100 and the thought of heading West. I’m now in Ohio! I might head to Nebraska….or Missouri or Illinois or maybe Indiana. I’ve never been to Nebraska and only passed through those other states. I like the 75 mph speed limit and the cheap diesel prices in Nebraska and salaries for the work I do seem higher there. We will see!
