What is a credit score and why should I care about it? I don't have any debt and don't plan on taking any on.
@hippyjoe1955 then don't

@hippyjoe1955 If you have ever had a bank account, a credit card, a utility bill, taken a loan from a bank, bought a car on credit or have or had a mortgage on a house, you have a credit score.

@IM5688 well I have had a bank account. I haven't bought a car on credit or had a mortgage I own a truck and a house and pay my bills.

@hippyjoe1955 Then you have a credit score. Utility bills also report to credit agencies. If you are behind in you utility bills or have the habit of paying them late, it will negatively affect your credit score/rating.

@IM5688 So why should I care?
IM5688 · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 Whether or not you feel the need to care about it is up to you. I was just trying to explain what it is and partly what it used for.

@IM5688 For those who get tied up worrying about such nonsense it seems to be important. For those of us who don't care it seems silly.
