Whats the point of reconnecting with my former classmates if we don’t talk or see each other again?

Like why try to get us to reconnect. I moved on with my life. There’s a guy that I knew in middle school and now he admits that he really likes me and I really glowed up and super beautiful. I mean I am very flattered. It is very sweet.
He did say he liked me in middle school. I almost didn’t recognize him.
I have him my email address (not my number) because I don’t want him blowing up my phone. Is that rude of me?
