inch worm optimism

if I was an inch worm
I'd crawl a mile for you
and if you made me squirm
I might make mile two

put me on your hook
I'd drop below the surface
of your back yard brook
with fish making me nervous

if though, I was a man
I'd knock upon your door
wild flowers in my hand
and wine ready to pour

but I'd pour out my heart
cause it's the best of spirit
aged in a cellar dark
where only I went near it

and as you raised the glass
breathed it in and tasted
I would smile at last
cause this would not get wasted
