Do you go out of your way to avoid being cliche?

Not sure about original, I just want to be me. It turns out that being me makes me stand out from the crowd but that's just a side effect.
I want to fit in in the sense of being accepted but not in the sense of being the same as everyone else. II have been lucky enough to associate with people who all seemed to me to be different from one another. Was it really luck though, or was it that in fact people really are all different?
Perhaps it depends on where you live.
