When I am upset I don't like to be touched

He asked for me to hug him last night and I said no. I told him I love him but I'm upset and I would not hug him right now

Is that awful?

Do others feel this way when upset?

I find it very hard to want to let the person that is upsetting me touch me

When I'm upset I want to be left alone too. I just want to be left to do my thing until I have some time to cool down. It's usually a heavily pensive and introspective time for me as well.
