When I am upset I don't like to be touched

He asked for me to hug him last night and I said no. I told him I love him but I'm upset and I would not hug him right now

Is that awful?

Do others feel this way when upset?

I find it very hard to want to let the person that is upsetting me touch me

I think most people are like that. To varying degrees to each situation anyway.

It's not awful at all it's just keeping.... IDK the integrity of intimacy I guess is a way to put it.

@MethDozer I worry it's seen as withholding affection as a form of punishment

But it's really just that my skin feels sick when being touched sometimes

@caccoon I don't think so. Affection isn't something owed, it's a privilege,not a right.

I wouldn't look at is punishment, it's just being honest with affection. It's that old chestnut of "I love you but right now I don't like you". You gotta calm down first , and that's okay. Affection is kind of fake if someone just hands it out regardless of how they feel. Am angry hug isn't real
