What did teens and young adults do with all their down time before the internet was easily accessible to everybody?

We had a fairly large lot and a half dozen+ neighborhood kids. Trees, bushes, detached garage. Ideal fr "hide and seek". We played until well after dark. We also built a couple of tree houses and we inherited a big sandbox, left over from a construction project.
