How long do you boil eggs for them to become hard boiled?

Starcrossed · 41-45, F
I was taught to bring them to boil then turn to simmer 5 minutes, Remove the pot from heat but let them sit in the hot water 10 more minutes then ice bath them to stop cooking.

Some people swear by baking them but I've never tried.
put them in a pan of cold water until it boils turn off the heat and cover the pan. in 15 minutes you will have perfectly cooked hard boiled eggs.

8 to 9 minutes.
once water is at rolling boil take eggs off heat and let stand:

3 minutes for soft boiled
6 minutes for medium boiled
12 minutes for hard boiled

3 minutes.. no more no less

10 min but don’t put them in the water until it’s boiling

The other way you can do it is wait until water reaches boil then put your eggs in and turn off the burner. I do that in the mornings. Turn it off and go get ready for work
Only three minutes, then let them sit in the water for two more, then remove them. In four more minutes they're hard but not overcooked.

5 minutes with the heat on, then turn it off and let eggs sit in the water for another 5.

@NinaTina How long is that? I had an egg timer that you put in the pot with the eggs and it shows you what the insides are like. But somebody through it out. So now I don't know.
@NinaTina Best answer.
